Write Your First Record

Create your first record and learn the basics of the editor.

Records are the heart of Goodterm — this is where you store your knowledge. Each record is a rich text document that you can format, structure, and revisit whenever you need it.

Create a New Record

In the left sidebar, make sure you're on the Records tab. Click the + button to create a new record. The editor opens immediately, and you can start typing right away.

Write Your Content

The first line of your record automatically becomes the title. Just start typing — give it a meaningful name, then continue with your content below.

You can format your text using the toolbar above the editor. Bold, headings, lists, code blocks — it's all there. For a deeper look at all formatting options, check out the formatting guide.

Autosave

You don't need to worry about saving. Goodterm autosaves your work as you type, so you can focus on writing without interruption. Every change is saved automatically.

What Makes Records Special

Your records aren't just stored — they're understood. Goodterm creates semantic embeddings of your content, which means the AI can find and use your knowledge in chats, even if you search for it with different words than you originally used.

What's Next?

Now that you have your first record, try having a conversation about it:
